Country Favorites

As I was putting my Christmas CD's back in the little wooden crates I found at Walmart, I decided I should share some of my favorite finds with y'all. And since I have a Country CD on at the moment, we'll start with that genre.

I'm a country girl who likes Country music. I know Country often gets a bad rap because of what plays on the radio, but the radio isn't a good representation of the entire Country music industry. (Check out Why I Love Country Music.) I usually check out the songs at CowboyLyrics.com before I buy the CD. And there is still sometimes a song you don't want little ears to hear. But that's what the "Next" button on CD players is for.

That said, here are a few of my favorite CD's.

Paul Overstreet:
The Best of Paul Overstreet
Time
Heroes
A Songwriter's Project, Volume 1

Brent Lamb

Billy Currington

Tim Rushlow

Brad Paisley:

Howdy! I'd have to say that Brad Paisley is one of my favorites too...but, then again I have a lot of "favorites". I can listen to Mud on the Tires time after time! :o) By the way, I've found that buying only the songs that I like off of iTunes, or Walmart Music Download prevents me from having to pay the full CD price for several songs that I'll just end up skipping anyway (plus! it's nice to have a mix of different artists to listen to as well).

I got into country music when I worked on a farm ... believe it or not, it is big out here in the Blue Ridge Mtns :). My favorites from your list are Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. There's plenty of country songs that I don't like, but I've never known a genre to be so true to life--and to have the capacity to be sometimes so sad, and at other times so funny.

I love country music (good country music, that is)...it's surprisingly rather popular with most of my friends up here in New England. :) My friend's mom calls Keith Urban's song, Making Memories of Us, her "warrior-poet song." :) A few favorites that didn't make your list have to be Rascal Flatts, Lonestar, and Martina McBride. Lonestar especially has some great tunes about home and family.

The cowboylyrics.com link does not work, but you can type it into your browser and it will go there. I've always liked that site!
