Hello from the Northland! I know I need to introduce myself before I start writing articles, so here goes...
My name is Jeannie Castleberry, and I have loved YLCF for years! Writing for this ministry has been a dream of mine for a long time, and I’m amazed at how God has moved to make this possible. I am looking forward to writing for YLCF on a semi-regular basis, as the Lord leads and supplies the time.
My lifestyle is probably a little different than that of the other writers for this page. The oldest of eight children, I live on a farm in northern Wisconsin. We don’t make our living farming, but we do raise most of our own food, so my siblings and I refuse to call it a “hobby farm.” Currently we have thirteen beef cattle, ten dairy goats, two cats, and a flock of laying hens (I haven’t counted them recently). It’s a lot of work, but I love it!
The most important thing to know about me is that I’m different. Peculiar. Called out, in fact — chosen by God to live for His glory, not my own. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I forget that I’m supposed to be different. The world and my flesh get in the way of the Cross, and I lose sight of what’s really important. So I’m reminding myself today that being a Christian means being different. It means sacrifice. It means being in the world but not of the world. There is a cost. But it can’t begin to compare with the price that was paid for our salvation. Jesus was willing to pay that price for us. How can we complain about the infinitesimally small sacrifices we make?
“… Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
And on that note, I’ll leave you for now.

Welcome! I like how you wrote your introduction.
Jeannie! Welcome to YLCF--I look forward to hearing from you. :)
Jeannie--I am so excited that you will be writing for YLCF! I have wanted to pick up a thread of your life again ever since I read the book about the "beginnings" of the farm. As I have heard of you or thought of you occasionally over the years I have wondered what sort of person you are. =) I will be looking forward to your writing here and many glimpses of your life!
The idea of being--and acting--different from the world is one of my favorite "kingdom concepts" as well!
Jeannie,
I look forward to reading more of your blogs:-)
