"Describe the YLCF" contest!

This afternoon Gretchen and I held the first YLCF conference via telephone with Lanier (over tea). The YLCF and HeartThoughts will complete their transformation sometime over the next few days (with the aid of much chocolate). Please forgive us if the website is temporarily down or links are broken; if something persists for more than 24 hours please let us know and we will fix it.

But we need your help! Can you describe the YLCF and HeartThoughts in 300 words or less? What is it, who reads it, and what makes it distinct from other websites? We need to define our identity and thought you readers would be the best ones to do so. Comment with your ideas and thank you!

Oh, and since this is a contest, there needs to be a prize, right? The entrant with the chosen description will receive the great honor of being interviewed for the YLCF (Natalie first suggested the prize to be a signed photo of Gretchen, but she insisted her idea of an interview is a better one).

Note: As we are revamping the YLCF Bookshelf we will be posting lots of blog entries of book reviews...some of these will appear below this post. Stay tuned for some of our favorite books.

Technical Note: If you are having trouble commenting on the blog, make sure your browser allows pop-up windows for ylcf.org. The comments box appears in a separate window. Alternately, you can view the comments for each post by clicking on the permalink (timestamp) at the bottom of each post.

How do we submit our ideas? Should we post them as a comment, or contact you via email?

Thanks! :)

And how about a deadline of Valentine's Day. :)

Some once said that God is so wonderful and life is so delicious...and with that i was content then i got to kno the ylcf more and its seems even more special now.

I would recomend the site to all my friends...it is a fun, traditional, honest and sweet website.

When you read the blogs after a few weeks you feel like you kno the writers for real...they are like virtual friends...

...they give advise on the important issues in a young christian womans life and they are not afraid to face the truth...they are making a big difference in lots of little ways.

I feel like the whole website is relevent to me and i would like to have the site forever and more.

ylcf...ur the best :)

YLCF is an online meeting place for Christian young ladies who are sincerely devoted to following the Lord. It is a place of encouragement that often refreshes, inspires, and encourages me. One thing I love about YLCF is that it is so supportive of homeschooling, being a daughter, being a wife-in-preparation, and being a whole-hearted Christian. It is a place that connects like-minded young ladies from all over the world. It is here that they can feel they belong somewhere and that they are understood. YLCF provides companionship that encourages me when I feel lonely and isolated. It reassures me that I am not the only good, godly girl left in the world who lives by high standards. It is such a blessing to know like-minded young ladies, through the blog and articles. YLCF encourages girls who are different, for His sake, to keep being different. It encourages young ladies in purity and usefulness as they walk through the difficult, waiting period of singleness.

Though I am not very familiar with Heart Thoughts, I do know that it published Quest for the High Places, one of the best books I have ever read. Every girl who reads this book will benefit from the wisdom, encouragement, and insight it contains. A lack of support for godly young womanhood is prevalent in today’s society. Both the YLCF and Heart Thoughts provide the rare support, encouragement, and fellowship that good, godly young ladies so desperately need.

Life is full of variety! Sometimes, we laugh. Sometimes, cry. Sometimes, we need to be challenged and convicted. Sometimes, we need encouragement.
The Young Ladies’ Christian Fellowship, along with HeartThoughts publications, meets you where you are! The godly wisdom, refreshing humor, and down-to-earth practicality of the women who contribute to these ministries will bless you time and time again. They are real women who are struggling with life’s sorrows and thrilling to life’s joys, just as you are. You will be delighted by their companionable day-to-day encouragement, inspired by their commitment to follow the Lord whatever it takes, and challenged as they share the various lessons they learn along the way.
Need to feel that someone understands the whole gamut of your experience as a young Christian woman?
Log on to YLCF.org, and don’t forget to check out the publications offered by HeartThoughts!
