"They had begun to read together a book greater than Dickens ever wrote, and when they had come to the fairest part of the sweet story Adam first told Eve, they looked for the name upon the title-page, and found that it was 'Love.'"

"True love stories never have endings."
-Richard Bach

I've always liked a good love story. From my first reading of Anne of Green Gables, I looked forward to living a love story all my own. As I grew older, I realized it didn't come as easily as it did in the fairy tales. Nor was it always "happily ever after." I began to pray for my as-yet-unknown husband. And ask God to write us a beautiful, romantic love story.

He did. In fact, He was already writing it. But I didn't know that then.

As I waited (sometimes rather impatiently), the love stories of others were a great encouragement to me. Good things did come to those who waited on God. I saw it in story after story. The details were always so personalized to each couple. The diversity of where they met and how their relationship looked was a much-needed reminder for me that there was no "perfect" way to go about a courtship. God writes a different story for every couple.

So I kept waiting on Him. And now I have my own love story to tell.

No, I didn't share all the ups and downs. There are tears and trials in everyone's story. But usually those are "between the lines," much too personal to share. It's not always easy. Don't forget that as you read.

We collect love stories here on ylcf.org as "memorial stones" of God's faithfulness. Each stone is shaped a little differently, has a different color, texture, and age. But every one stands as a monument to the way God brought two people together in His perfect timing.

Truly, great is His faithfulness!
