The Biblical View of a Wife

Why did God create women? The world has a very twisted view of the role of a woman, specifically that of a wife. But the Bible gives a very honorable and marvelous description of what a godly woman can be for a righteous man. Not only are we as women the perfect complement and companion for man, we are his helper.

The first woman was named Eve, which literally means “Helper.” For us, the term helper might be less than complimentary and perhaps imply someone of lesser value who does menial tasks. But the original Hebrew meaning is far more than someone who assists a person. A wife meets three vital needs in her husband’s life: Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual.

This help is that which no one else can provide. A wife meets her husband’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs as no one else can. Can you imagine a more wonderful relationship on earth? We truly have been given a high privilege and enjoyable, challenging task.

Girls who are still single can also apply these concepts to meeting the needs of their brothers for companionship. Truly, it is not good for man to be alone.

These concepts were taken from a lecture by Dr. William Marty at Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL in 2002.

What Is A Wife To A Man?

A wife is a treasure to be kept safe so I lock you in my arms.

A wife is a beam of sunshine where there is none.

So I gaze upon you.

A wife is the giver of life, so I gladly die for her

So that my children may live beside her.

A wife is courage so

When mine fails I think of her and can carry on.

A wife is love, so that I may love through her.

A wife is wisdom so that my children and myself may harvest knowledge from her.

A wife is to be protected so I give her all that I have.

A wife is an Angel brought to me from Heaven so that I may find God through her.
